Karen Barnes
A "Grandfamily" herself, she knows what obstacles kinship families face every day. Karen works to holistically support the permanency and stability of grand and kinship families locally and across the country. She believes that every child deserves a safe, loving home, and she tirelessly advocates for resources and policies that make this possible. Karen's efforts include organizing support groups, implementing a holistic wheel of support, and collaborating with community organizations to ensure that these families receive the assistance they need. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed; she has received numerous accolades for her work, but what she values most are the heartfelt thank-you notes from families whose lives have been touched by her efforts.
In addition to her advocacy, Karen’s work is a beacon of hope, illuminating the path for those navigating the often complex and challenging landscape of kinship care. Through her unwavering commitment, Karen continues to inspire others to join her in making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless children and their caregivers.
